Thanks to Grace Quirke (aged 15) for this delicious recipe for Wholemeal Cinnamon Buns. Grace was the winner of our Savour Kilkenny Food Festival Junior baking competition. The judges were extremely impressed with her execution of this traditionally favourite treat.

As part of the Savour Kilkenny food festival The Little Mill Company held a baking competition to find the best recipes using wholemeal flour. There was an overwhelming response and the standard of recipes entered was extremely high. The team of experienced judges commented on the innovation, quality and flavour of the food submitted by the young bakers.
Joe Mulhall one of the judges of the competition was delighted to see the enthusiasm of the young people involved “The baking skills demonstrated today have exceeded anything we could have imagined, the technical ability and the creativity has been inspiring for us to see, the future of baking in Ireland is safe!”
This is the first time that The Little Mill has participated in Savour Kilkenny and they were delighted with the festival. The company were proud to be awarded stall of the year as judged by Mairead Lavery of The Farmers Journal. The beautiful array of baking submitted by the young entrants brought the stall alive and attracted many viewers and compliments by visitors to the festival.
